Data Breach Summary

In February 14, 2023. InsecureWeb discovered a data breach affecting the Hyundai Powertech, a leading automotive parts manufacturer of Hyundai Motor Group. The breach was posted by Omnipotent on the dark web forum HydraMarket. The stolen data included financial documents, correspondence with bank employees, account movements, balance sheets, tax documents, compensation information, and source code.

Where and How?

The breach was discovered on the dark web forum, HydraMarket. It is suspected that the hackers gained access through a ransomware attack. Ransomware is a type of malware that encrypts a victim’s files and demands payment in exchange for the decryption key.
