🧾 Leak Overview
A database containing 47,693 user records allegedly tied to General Motors Argentina was leaked on darkforums.st by the threat actor injectioninferno2. The dataset includes a wide range of sensitive personal information:
- Full names
- DNI (Argentine National ID numbers)
- Email addresses and phone numbers
- Physical addresses
- Passwords (in plaintext)
- Internal metadata (province codes, document type, GUIDs)
The exposure of this level of detail poses a high risk for identity theft, phishing, social engineering, and potential unauthorized access to GM-related systems or third-party services.
🌐 Leak Location
The data was made publicly available on darkforums.st, a growing cybercrime forum often used for trading stolen credentials and corporate data. The structure and content of the database suggest it was extracted from internal GM Argentina systems or dealer/customer service platforms.
📚 Previous Breach History
There is no previous public breach known involving GM Argentina. However, General Motors (global) did suffer a credential-stuffing attack in 2022 affecting U.S.-based MyAccount services. That incident did not involve the kind of full structured customer data seen in this leak.
This July 2025 incident marks the first major data exposure linked specifically to GM Argentina.
🚨 Risk Summary
Users affected by this breach face the following threats:
- Account takeovers via exposed plaintext passwords
- Targeted phishing using real personal info
- Identity theft using DNI and address data
- Abuse of GM platforms or services if credentials were reused
🛡️ Recommended Actions
For GM Argentina:
- Reset exposed user credentials
- Notify all affected customers
- Audit internal CRM/dealer systems for compromise
- Enforce encrypted password handling and MFA across platforms
- Monitor cybercrime forums for future dumps
For Exposed Users:
- Change any reused passwords immediately
- Be cautious of suspicious emails or SMS claiming to be from GM
- Monitor bank and online accounts for suspicious activity
- Enable two-factor authentication wherever possible
- Consider ID protection or credit monitoring services
